The YETI Silo drink dispenser is insulated with 2-inch polyurethane foam- enough to keep your drinks icy cold for days which is obviously important for outdoor events on those hot summer days. If you can’t carry 60lbs get help carrying it otherwise skip it.Are you budget-conscious? Then Heck NO! Get the Bulldog Winch dispenser (Amazon link) instead, it’s a third of the price yet very good. Are you a 4×4 enthusiast? Then no(the lid seal can leak on rough roads).Do you want to impress your friends? Then yes.Are you already a YETI collector? Then likely.Do you want a top-tier drink dispenser? Then yes. This all begs the question: “ Is the YETI Silo worth it?” The YETI 6G usually goes for around 300 bucks but you can check their latest price here It has “no rope handle”: I personally hate rope handles but some prefer them…I have no idea why.The spigot needs cleaning and maintenance in high-use or commercial scenarios.Heavy and bulkier than other drink dispensers on the market.Non-slip feet keep the dispenser in place.Sleek and modern design that looks great in any setting.Available in two different sizes to fit your needs.Excellent cold retention measured in multiple days.Insulation: 2″ Polyurethane foam Insulated body and lid.Size: 5.8-gallon (not 6 gallons as implied by model number). It’s definitely uglier than the YETI, but I consider it a hidden gem that deserves more attention than it gets. Best Alternative to the Yeti Silo ?īulldog Winche’s 5 Gallon Drink Dispenser(Amazon link) costs way less and is much more spill-proof when jostled. I do, however, have a few gripes with it which I’ll get into later. I like the embossed metal grab handle and upscale aesthetics. The high-flow spigot is a very nice feature too. The Silo is extremely rugged, holds ice well, is easy to tie down, and is easy to maintain. It is one of the better drink dispensers on the market. I think the Yeti SILO 6G is overpriced (like most YETI products), however, the product itself is quite good. As a long-term owner, I will give it to you straight: good and bad. I’ve seen a number of “reviews” of the YETI Silo from folks who clearly have never even owned one. I guess you could say we are “power users” of the Silo. My family and I brought our YETI Silo 6G all the way out to Africa with us and have used it daily for two years straight…heat, insects, and all. In terms of premium options the YETI Silo definitely makes the “shortlist” but the big question is, “Is it worth it?” Summer is just around the corner, and if you are beginning to plan for outdoor gatherings and camping trips a solid drink dispenser makes a great addition to outdoor living.
